When we were in Ubud about 5 years ago, I had a day to myself where I found a "path" marked on a map into the rice terraces and I started walking. The path quickly disappeared but that didn't mean that there was no place to walk - and so I kept working my way rather aimlessly through the fields until my watch told me that I had better work my way out to a street and start walking back home.
It was one of my favorite walks of my life and for that Ubud will always hold a dear place in my heart.
