Today was a walking day (19 miles in all). It started with just wandering through the little streets. I did end up in a church, on the coast, and outside a palace. I did have one destination in mind: Spacca Napoli, known as the best street in Naples for pizza. I ate there twice. Naples is famous for where pizza was first created, and their pride and joy is "tradizionale," which is a simple, soft, thin flat bread with a little sauce called pizza margherita. To tell you the truth, I am not a fan. I tried it twice and It is boring. I did find some other very delicious things to eat though.
This was like a pizza ham and cheese sandwich - delicious
Similar to Arancini (fried risotto ball), but stuffed with rice and ground meat- hot, fresh, delicate, and so so delicious!
Small street photos:
San Giorgio Maggiore on Spacca Napoli street:
But then as you exit, you see the new church built right on the old church.
Walk to the coast line:
I was on a hill overlooking the sea, and then I followed this narrow road down, so steep it made actual switchbacks. And then I noticed the most unusual thing, the houses were built under the road. Each switchback was the roof of the houses below it.
Castel Dell'Ovo:As I returned to the commercial area of Naples, I came upon the Royal Palace of Naples:
And a couple of laundry shots to end this post:
