A couple of things did not work as planned. When I dreamed of going to Rome for a month, I did not take into consideration that this is a Jubilee Year. Rome is expecting over 32 million tourists this year. That makes wandering round the old district of Rome much less attractive. Secondly, I have always been a "morning person" with no need for caffeine. Italian coffee is too strong for me, so hanging out at a cafe just does not work.
So I decided to take my son, Noah's advice and head for Naples for 3 days. I am very excited about exploring a new city, especially one on the water. I made my way to the train station this morning and bought my ticket. I will leave tomorrow morning and be in Naples through Thursday evening.
On the way back to my Airbnb I stopped at 3 churches.
Basilica di Santa Prassede was different from the other churches I have seen. The religious scenes were painted directly on the walls of the church.
Unfortunately, Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza was closed for renovations, but the courtyard outside of it was beautiful.
