July 1st and 2nd: bike ride, wats and monks

Last night for dinner we went to the Tamarind - Sheila's favorite restaurant from the last time she was here. Sitting around the table were: Gertrud from Germany, Regina - a German living in Australia, Marda from Spain, Sheila and myself.

lemon grass chicken - the chicken was stuffed inside the lemon grass
umbrellas in the night market - every evening  the  main street gets taken over by  craft sellers, closing off the  entire main street to traffic.

It was overcast this morning  so I thought it would be a good time to go on a long bike ride. By the time I finished my ride at Sheila's guest house, it was stinking hot. I headed over the bike bridge then east along the Mekong. The road started paved, but quickly turned to dirt.

The entire trip took about 1.5 hours. In that time I passed 5 wats.
